8 Ways YOU Can Make a Difference
Government goes to those who show up. The “other team” is busy growing government, promulgating regulations and policies that dig deeper into your pocketbook. Conservatives need to weigh in. Public policy and important decisions are made every day – not just on polling days.
Here are some ways you can make a difference and work to defend the American Dream
1.Know your elected officials and call or write them about issues you care about.
2.Write letters to the editor of your local newspaper (and if the newspaper or TV station has a blog, make comments).
3.Call radio talk shows – make sure your voice is heard!
4.Volunteer on campaigns. The better you know the officials, the more likely you are to have their ear.
5.Join organizations that can keep you informed on issues you care about (like Americans for Prosperity – www.afptx.org)
6.Attend events. You are busy, but public policy decisions are often made based on who shows up.
7.End taxpayer-funded lobbying. While you are hard at work making a living, taking care of your family and paying your taxes, your tax dollars should not be used to fund policies that allow government to dig deeper into your pockets!
8.Blog! A growing number of media use bloggers as sources of information and to provide quotes.
